Due to the recent improvement in onion prices, farmers were getting two paise. Onion prices had been falling since the lockdown began
The onion stored by the farmers was spoiled. From June to August 13, after the commencement of market committees after June, the price of onion is literally Rs. 2 to 7 per kg.Farmers were not even able to bear the cost of onion at this exorbitant price. Now, in a few days, the price has improved and the price of onion has gone up to Rs 22-25 per kg
While the farmers were getting two paise in their hands, the price of onion has come down by Rs 600 to Rs 700 today due to the sudden stoppage of onion exports by the central government. This has added to the worries of the farmers.
      The central government should lift the ban on onion export provide relief to farmers.
